    1. Chemical Nature: A blend of zircon sands, clays and fluxes which is mixed with water prior to application.

  3. Hazard Identification Occupational exposure limits quoted are those for zirconium compounds in H.S.E. guidance note EH40/94. Furnascote also contains 0.2% of free silica and must therefore be treated as nuisance dusts. Exposure limits are: 10 mg/m³ total inhalable dust, short term exposure limit, 10 minute ref; 5 mg/m³ respiable dust, long term exposure will be 8 hours TWA.
    Mixing with water during application eliminates these hazards.

    2. Eye contact: Flush eyes with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes.

    1. Personal Precautions: Wear a dust mask if sweeping up powder spillage.

    3. Methods for Cleaning: Clean up powder spillages by sweeping or vacuming taking care not to generate dust. (Dampen down with water first if possible). Place in labelled closed containers to await disposal.

  7. Handling and Storage Use local exhaust ventilation and filtration plant to control dusts. Operators should wear dust masks when handling Furnascotes in their dry powder form.

    1. Handling: Provide good ventilation if using indoors. All equipment should be flame proof .Avoid all contact with skin and eyes. Keep all containers away from all sources of ignition. If spraying, wear suitable respiratory equipment.
    2. Storage: Store under dry conditions to preserve quality.
