  1. Substance/Preparation and Company Identification

    1/1 Chemical Nature - A solution of Plasticised Polyvinylacetate-vinyl chloride copolymer for use as a strippable protective coating
    1/2 Company - As above.
  2. Main Constituents

    2/1 Contains - Mixture of petroleum hydrocarbons, resin, plasticiser and coloured dyes.
    2/2 EEC Symbol
    2/3 Risk Phrases - Harmful, Flammable, Irritating to the eyes.
  3. Hazard Identification

    Flammable, contains Xylene, Methyl isobutyl ketone, Isopropylated triaryl phosphate.
  4. First Aid Measures

    4/1 Skin Contact - Wash off with soap and plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use
    4/2 Eye contact - Flush eyes with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical advice.
    4/3 Inhalation - In case of over exposure to vapours, move patient to fresh air, keep him warm. If loss of consciousness occurs, oxygen may be given and immediately seek medical advice.
    4/4 Ingestion - Do not induce vomiting as aspiration may be caused.
    Milk or liquid paraffin may be given. Aspiration into the lungs is highly dangerous and may rapidly inflame the lung tissue resulting in pneumonitis. Medical attention should be sought.
  5. Fire Fighting Measures

    Flammable in liquid form, treat as petroleum. Dried film is not flammable.

    5/4 Exposure Hazards - A potentially explosive mixture at high temperatures Produces noxious and toxic fumes.
  6. Accidental Release Measures

    6/1 Personal Precautions - Avoid contact with the eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid breathing vapours.
    6/2 Environmental Precautions - Prevent from entering the drains.
    6/3 Methods for Cleaning - Cover and soak up with an inert absorbent material ie sawdust or sand, remove to a secure place.
  7. Handling and Storage

    In accordance with "Flammable Liquids" regulations.
    7/1 Handling - Provide good ventilation if using indoors. All equipment should be flame proof . Avoid all contact with skin and eyes. Keep all containers away from all sources of ignition. If spraying, wear suitable respiratory equipment.
    7/2 Storage - Store in secure containers, clearly labelled well away from any sources of ignition. Ideally lock in a secure, flameproof cabinet.
  8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

    8/1 Limits - HSE EH40/94: Short term: 75 ppm. ( 15 minutes TWA), Long term: 50 ppm. (8 hour TWA)
    8/2 Respiratory Protection - Use in well ventilated areas. If OEL is exceeded wear respirator with a type 'A' filter.
    8/3 Hand Protection - Wear plastic or industrial rubber gloves.
    8/4 Eye Protection - Safety goggles to BS 2092 should be worn.
    8/5 Skin Protection - Keep skin covered use barrier creams on exposed skin. Wash off any contamination immediately.
