Texol

General

Texol is a two part solvent free epoxy coating specially formulated for use on all types of floors where a high level of protection is required against physical wear, spillage and soiling. It provides a high build, glossy coating which is non-tainting during application. Once cured, the Texol film is inert and will withstand heavy traffic. It is easily cleaned and the shine can be maintained by regular polishing.

Typical Areas of Use

Preparation

All surfaces to be treated must be dry and free from oil, dust and loose materials. Any holes or cracks should be made good. Damp concrete should be primed with Acron Vapourguard. Texol can be coated directly onto a dense polymer concrete surface but more porous surfaces should be primed with Acron Etch Primer. Rough surfaces will need two coats of Texol.

Mixing

Stir the larger base component until smooth, then add the contents of the smaller hardener pot. Continue mixing for two minutes before transferring the entire mix to a paint kettle or other container and re-mix again. Note inadequate mixing leads to soft, uncured patches on the floor. A mechanical or electric drill mixer is highly recommended for this job. The mixed Texol has a pot life of around 25 minutes @ 15°C and must be used within this period.

Application

Texol can be applied by brush or short pile roller. The best method is to pour the mixed Texol across the floor in a ribbon then spread it out to the desired thickness using a squeegee, finally laying off to finish with a roller. Apply at 300 µ per coat so that one 5kg pack covers approx 16.5 metres (approx 4m² per litre depending upon surface profile).

Curing

Texol will accept foot traffic after 24 hours and vehicular traffic after 48 hours @ 15°C. Full cure is attained after 5 to 7 days. Allow 24 hours between coats.

Non-slip Surfaces

Cast an excess of grit into the first coat of Texol whilst freshly wet. Leave overnight then sweep away loose grit. Using a fairly stiff brush, apply another coat to encapsulate.
