Hammer Finishes

Product Function

Hammer Finishes are used to produce an attractive and durable special effect finish which will hide imperfections on marked, pitted or uneven surfaces of all types. This popular general purpose Hammer Finish is suitable for application to a wide variety of substrates and offers excellent drying, gloss, adhesion and weathering properties. Fast air drying, it produces a good hammer pattern whether sprayed or brushed.

Preparation

Surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and degreased. Etch primers should be used over aluminium and alloys. For best results on steelwork use AP1 Red Oxide or Zinc Phosphate Primer.

Application

For best results, Hammer Finish should be spray applied, although brushing is possible on small areas. Factors affecting the hammer pattern are : viscosity, distance from job, air pressure, temperature, solvent blend. For consistency of form and pattern keep these as consistant as possible. Hammer Finishes are slightly structured to aid even and uniform hammer patterns on large panel areas. A dust coating should be applied first followed after 2-5 minutes by a full wet coat. If a further coat is required, allow 5 to 10 minutes for first coat to "flash-off".
