Antifoulings

General

Antifouling paint is used to stop the settlement of the three main types of fouling - weed, barnacle and slime, onto hulls. The paint also prevents the damage caused by burrowing organisms on immersed wooden structures. Fouling conditions can be affected by the levels of sunlight and shade, temperature, flow of the water and pollution levels. In order to cater for the varying needs of antifouling systems, Acron offer two differing products. Antifoulings contain heavy pigments which are likely to settle when the paint is stored so it is important to stir the paint thoroughly prior to application. It is advisable to apply an extra coat of your chosen antifouling along the waterline and other areas where more aggressive water flow may occur. Antifouling should not generally be thinned. However, in high temperatures, thinning by 10% may assist with application.

High Copper Co-Polymer

Both antifoulings below consist of a high strength, copper based product particularly suitable for areas of heavy fouling. Their controlled erosion properties combat the seasonal build up of fouling.

Acron Cruising

A medium to high strength product designed to provide protection in most fouling conditions. Suitable for use on substrates with the exception of aluminium. Maximum launch time three months.

Acron Hard Racing

Hard antifouling contains a high proportion of insoluble resin which does not allow it to erode. Due to this, the antifouling is resistant to abrasion making the products in this range ideal for high-speed power boats and vessels which are mud berthed. Suitable for all substrates with the exception of aluminium. Maximum launch time three months. This product also self polishes whilst vessel is at high speeds.
