5+1 Polyamide Cured Primer

Product Function

This primer is formulated to provide optimum corrosion resistance, adhesion and filling properties in systems using either Two Pack polyamide cured Finish or Two Pack cured Finish. This versatile primer is also suitable for use in conjunction with a wide range of air drying and stoving finishes. This primer may be sprayed or brushed and can be force dried according to the system specification.

Surface Preparation and Application

• Mild Steel : The substrate must be thoroughly clean and free from contaminants, corrosion and grease. Conventional degreasing methods may be employed but for maximum efficiency Acron Degreasing methods may be employed but for maximum efficiency, Acron Degreasing Solvent is recommended.
• Aluminum and Light Alloys: The use of the correct primer is essential. Where optimum adhesion is required, Two Pack Self Etching Primer should be used and must completely dry before the primer is applied. Force drying of stoving the etch primer is highly recommended.
• Wood : The surface must be thoroughly clean, dry and free from foreign matter. Sanding the surface of de-nibbing is recommended prior to priming.

Priming

Two Pack polyamide cured primer may be applied by the following methods :

• Conventional Spraying : To the blend of mixed material.(see mixing ratio) Thinners may be added up to 15% volume to obtain a viscosity of 40-50 seconds at application temp. using a BS b4 viscosity cup.
• Electrostatic Spraying : Two Pack POLYAMIDE CURED PRIMER when used with Acron thinners is normally suitable. Contact our Technical Dept. for more information.
• Brushing : The mixed material is normally suitable for brush application. A small quantity of Acron thinners may be added if required to obtain suitable viscosity at application temperature.

Properties

Packaging	2.5 and 5 litre composite packs.
Flashpoint	May occur between 22 and 32°C
Shelf Life	Unopened pots are usuable on year from date of manufacture.
Storage	Cool dry place under temperatures of 10-15°C (in accordance with the highly flammable liquids and liquefied petroleum gasses regulations 1972).
Mixing Ratio	5 parts base to 1 part hardener.
Pot Life	Usable upto 24 hours under normal working conditions (20°C).
Cleaning	Acron Gunwash or Universal Thinners.
Temp Resistance	Up to 150°C.
Coverage	Calculated on dry film thickness of 37.5 microns : Conventional spray 5 to 6m² per litre of mixed material.
